Why ? because they are unique, secure and SEO friendly. Choose the color according to your niche, But white color is always suitable for all type of niche, and rest is up to you.
Post Title / Content
Post title plays are very important role in attracting new user and encourage them to read your post. Whenever you make new post always try to create a catchy and unique title. It is first thing which readers saw while he is scanning your site. If they like your title then they will proceed further.
Avoid duplicate content, be original and be creative. Use your ideas and do more research for making new content. As mentioned earlier, always make a catchy and unique title.
And if we talk about the content , first few lines or intro should be justifying. People start to read when they found it interesting then they will continue.
Images and Videos
Images play a important role in reading. Imagine your self reading a book(with out images 
) or reading a comic. It is obvious that your will enjoy reading comic. Why ? because it has images which make it more interesting. Always use relevant images on your post. People don’t like article without images
Do use videos on your post. Video must be relevant to your content. There are two advantage of adding images and videos ,
#1 – It will increase the interest of your readers, They don’t get bore while reading something on your blog/site.
#2- It can increase the visiting length of user on your site. Which is also good
